Jacques Marchand makes his professional debut composing for great Quebecer singers such as Renée Claude and Pauline Julien, with whom he initiates himself into stagecraft, gaining experience into television and record production as well. During those eight years, he registered three records. In need of grounding, he begins classical music again, with fresh vigour, creating more that fifteen composition for violin, piano and guitar, then composing concerted, symphonic and theatre music.
When performing solo, Jacques Marchand endeavours to seize and understand other composer's musical imagery. Only then can provide the listener with a genuine density of the piece he plays (and that, he does very well...)

In 1985, still seeking new horizons, he founded L'Orchestre Symphonique Régional d'Abitibi-Témiscamingue, an orchestra that allow his creativeness to go on day after day. Since then indeed, he shares his knowledge as an artistic director and appointed conductor. Besides, he refines his technique every year with the help of renown conductors such as Maestro Pierre Hétu (Quebec, Canada) Maestro Gabriel Chmura (Ottawa, Canada), Maestro Otakar Trhlik, Zdenek Bilek and Frantisek Vajnar (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic).

Jacques Marchand believes in "making active music: being a musician is more than playing notes, he says, one has to organise his life with respect to music, make it his way of life. Creating playing and conducting are part of a musician wholeness.
